When you book a wedding venue, it’s good to know what’s inside, outside and around the venue.
Why? Because it’s the UK and I’ve photographed rainy day weddings in August and ceremonies in near 30c heat in October. It’s good to know that, whatever the British weather throws at you, you’re still going to have a wonderful time. The weather being a footnote to the story of your day. The Oxford Spires Hotel ticks all these boxes. Plenty of room inside, lots of space outside and the River Thames just a short walk away! The funny thing is that Becky and Scott hadn’t realised they were so close to the river until I told them! (read more below…)
Having photographed over 200 weddings, I make a point of arranging an engagement shoot or at least looking over a wedding venue before the big day. My inner explorer loves to wander all over and around a wedding venue to see where all the photo opportunities are. That way, I know exactly where to go to get some lovely Bride and Groom pictures, whatever the weather. We had a great time photographing some riverside images for the engagement shoot and Becky was hooked on the idea! 2018 has been such a wonderful year for summer weddings. It was ideal for those shots by the Thames on the big day itself. Then back to the air conditioned hotel to party into the night!
