Story behind the image.
Firstly, I’ll let you into a secret. We wedding photographers like to blind you with our hard earned skill and latest gear. However, Sometimes, getting that lovely image is down to good old fashioned luck!
Donna and Robert got married in my home village of Overton. Donna’s dad is the Rector at the village church and her mum also plays a vital role keeping everything ticking along. So a family wedding at the family church and being married by her parents was the perfect way to “tie the knot”. It was also important to them both to have wedding pictures taken around the village. As it was a November wedding, we hoped for lots of autumn colours and no strong winds to blow away the leaves Before a wedding, I will always get an hour-by-hour weather forecast so I will be ready with a wedding photography plan to capture lovely images of the day.
On the day itself, all went according to plan, Dad walked her down the aisle and performed the service. Mum also played her part with a lovely reading. The weather was on our side and very few of the autumn leaves had blown away! It was on our way to the reception venue I noticed this sunset. Luckily we were driving ahead of the bride and groom. I literally flagged them down on the driveway at the golf course.
It was a quick step out of the car for them to stand on the driveway and capture the picture in the last few seconds of sunlight. A bit of image processing magic to make the most out of those colours in the sky and there we are!
