Who would have thought that being a wedding photographer would lead to being commissioned for a photo shoot involving large naked flames and packs of cards flying everywhere!

The great thing about wedding photographer is that you get to meet so many different and interesting people. As well as the wedding couple, I also get to talk to people who work in other facets of this industry which can lead to interesting assignments.

I meet Greg Williamson every so often and he ended coming round to the studio for a photo shoot. We had great fun with flames and cards flying all over the place! Luckily nothing caught fire (although Greg’s hand did get a little hot a times!) and we ended up with some cracking images.

For me, this flower says it all. It encompasses both my family and business life.

Wedding Photography is a great business to be in. I already know that this will be our busiest year ever as we have nearly doubled the number of wedding photography bookings for 2010 compared to 2009. We’re already on course for an even better 2011!

I’m also a Dad, and myself and Pippa are blessed with two young children. With the diary getting busier with wedding, portrait, PR and commercial photography bookings in and around Hampshire, I believe it’s important to put time aside for the family.

Unfortunately, it’s our garden that suffers. With 7 mature trees alone …. no, make that 9. I forgot the two in the front garden… it takes a lot of looking after. However, among the weeds between the patio paving slabs, I came across this Pansy. A seed from the flower bed above must have dropped down here. We’ve had so much talk of recovery “green shoots”, I saw this as a good omen.

When I next get the chance to de-weed the patio, I think I’ll keep this little plant where it is….

Rob plays in a band and also teaches people how to play the drums. He needed some publicity shots, so booked in a session at our photography studio.

When he brought them in, we thought we might get a few complaints from our neighbours in this sleepy part of Hampshire. However, to my surprise, our portrait studio is pretty well soundproofed!

What followed was 30 minutes of every kind of drum rhythm known to man…

Great fun!
