When I meet couples for the first time, most are a little apprehensive about how they should “act” in front of the camera. In fact, I have only had one couple who oozed confidence when we talked about being photographed on their wedding day. My advice is simple; enjoy your day and we will capture the moments.

We had a lovely time with Sarah and Richard. Even a little rain before the ceremony didn’t dampen the day. Like most couples, they didn’t want to spend ages being “posed” for photographs. A walk around the grounds of the Clock Barn was just perfect to get the natural images they wanted.

There’s something special about the sunlight near the seaside. It seems a more crisp and clear. We had a gorgeous sunny day when we photographed Tara and Adam’s wedding day in Lymington in The New Forest.

We like talking to couples to get their story. Tara and Adam have known each other since childhood, so we took them back to the place where they used to play as kids for some special bride and groom photos. Then it was back to Tara’s childhood home where they partied into the night. What wonderful night it was. Couldn’t resist the temptation for one last shot of the two of them, in the moonlight, before heading back to the studio.

We like travelling all over the country to cover someone’s special day, but it’s nice when a wedding is on your doorstep. The village of Kingsclere is a 5 minute drive from where we are based, yet it was the first time we shot a wedding there. I love it when a church has a balcony, as it’s a wonderful angle to capture the bride’s arrival. Dawn exercised her prerogative to arrive “a tad late” with her Dad but they charmed the vicar and it was such a wonderful service. Church readings don’t normally get laughs but this one did.

Wedding photography at Sandford Springs Golf Club meant a few images around the course. Dawn and Richard couldn’t wait to jump into a buggy and drive around the course. We had such fun shooting natural images as they enjoyed some time together away from all the madness.

To keep our approach fresh we always like to try new ways of shooting images. If you’re reading through the blog posts, you’ll see that we’ve shot a lot of sunsets this year. But the sunset at Dawn and Richard’s wedding is one of my favourites.

One of the great things about wedding photography at a golf club is that you get to ride a buggy around the course! Lynnette and Stuart held their ceremony at East Horton Golf Club. After the ceremony we rode round the course, taking shots as we went. There were some many lovely areas for wedding photography.

They had some clever little ideas to personalise their day. It was very much a family affair, with many people spending days baking a wide variety of cakes for their buffet style wedding breakfast. They first met at a pub quiz, so it was only right to hold a pub quiz of their own. Such a great night!

Wedding Photographer – Pitt Hall Barn – Hampshire

We had a wonderful time shooting Lucy and Seb’s wedding at Pitt Hall Barn and within the estate itself. And what a great choice for a wedding car!!

One of the wonderful things about where I live is that you get to meet such wonderful a mix of people. Lucy and Seb are one of those couples who completely embrace the countryside around them. This wedding photography commission was a local affair. Their wedding ceremony was only a five minute walk from my house in our village church and the wedding reception was at Pitt Hall Barn.

I loved the way they went for something different in choosing their wedding car (See image below). Although their journey, between the church and Pitt Hall Barn, was slower than other modes of transport, they had much more fun. They had plenty of time to consume the champagne on board! Such a fun day which shows in their wedding photography and the bride and groom wedding images we shot within the farming estate.

Wedding Photographer – Queens Hotel – Southsea – Hot Walls – Hampshire.

What a glorious day!! Hot sun, blue skies and lots of laughs!

The Queens Hotel is just a stone’s throw away from the sea. So we made full use of it for Sarah and Iain’s wedding photos!

Any initial caution about having their pictures taken among the tourists soon vanished. Wherever we went, people were congratulating, applauding and were even happy to move aside, whilst we were shooting, so as not to spoil the picture. The wave of warmth (If you pardon the pun) from everyone was wonderful!

Just along the beach are The Hot Walls. Old defences left over from the war. It was a good opportunity to cool down and take a few final photos before heading back to The Queens Hotel.

Let me just say, Sara and Iain know how to enjoy themselves! They booked our “PhotoBooth”, the ceilidh band had the dancefloor filled for most of the evening (which is no easy task on a warm summer’s evening) and let off Chinese lanterns to mark the end of the evening. Scroll to the bottom of this page to see that image.

Wedding Photographer – Old Thorns Golf and Country Estate, Liphook, Hampshire

Sabina and Mike.

The Old Thorns Golf and Country Club is a treasure of a venue! We had so many stunning places (Both outdoors and in) to shoot wedding photos there was never going to be enough time for them all! This is a great “problem” to have.

After all their months of planning, it was wonderful to see Sabina and Mike have such a wonderful wedding day. From the sunlight pouring into the ceremony room, to heartfelt speeches, and hanging out on the terrace soaking up the sun and chatting to friends.

For the bride and groom wedding pictures we spent our time with Sabina and Mike out on the course. They had the time of their lives and even whipped off their shoes and socks for a little splash in one of the lakes. Although, I’m not quite sure what they enjoyed most, having their pictures taken or whizzing round on the golf buggies!

This was my first wedding photography shoot at Silchester House. It’s a venue which is solely dedicated to weddings. After some works in the early part of the year, the interior of Silchester House is faultless. Absolutely stunning!

The weather was perfect for Jo and Dan’s big day, at Silchester House, and Jo lapped up every second of it. Many couples will comment about how quickly their day went (As did my own wedding) but, during the day, I could see Jo looking around and taking in every moment of her magical day. It was if she was trying to pause time itself. And she’ll always have the wedding photos we shot throughout the day to re-live it all over again!

Wasn’t April just an amazing month to hold a wedding!

We were very fortunate to be booked out for wedding photography assignments in April. Although we always plan for days when the weather isn’t as good as we would like, “The Wet Plan” as I call it, stayed firmly in the bag.

Debra and Alastair’s wedding day had a real air of simplicity about it. A wonderful church service in Winchester, pictures under trees overflowing with blossom. The reception at Itchen Abbas village hall, not far from Winchester, with a lovely wedding cake created by Debra. We also took a few natural photos of the two of them around the village and along the river’s edge, cheered on by residents along the bank on the other side of the river!

Wedding Photographer – Aldermaston Manor.

Joanne and Jits.

What perfect weather for April wedding photography at Aldermaston Manor. Not a shower in sight. Lots of sunshine, and a bit of cloud, to ensure it wasn’t too hot. Such a great mix of people too. Such a relaxed feel to the day too. Joanne and Jits really relaxed into the day and thoroughly enjoyed themselves and that came through in the wedding images we shot.

I’ve been to this venue a number of times and always look to try something new. The lads did a sterling job jumping off this tree stump to make this fun shot!
