Miranda and Mark – Hampshire Wedding Photography – The Elvetham

When we were invited to be the wedding photographer at Miranda and Mark’s wedding at The Elvetham we were pretty excited for a couple of reasons;

  • Miranda and Mark were lovely couple, full of enthusiasm for their big wedding. During the months leading up to their big day, we got to learn a bit about their personalities and their plans for their wedding day. They wanted wedding pictures that were as natural as possible and captured the spirit of their day. They were also happy to stand out, at night, for the moment the fireworks were set off. In any January evening, this is a pretty brave thing for a bride to do in her wedding dress. But, this January, just after “The Big Freeze” we were very impressed that they stayed out there for the whole event in sub-zero temperatures so that we could photograph their wedding fireworks. I think it came out pretty well.

Wedding Fireworks, The Elvetham.

  • The Elvetham makes for a stunning backdrop for wedding photography. The venue has a wonderful team, working in the background, to ensure the wedding runs smoothly and everything is just right.

Wedding photography that captures natural images.

We did a lot of wedding photography planning leading up to the day so that we were fully prepared for sun or rain … and even snow (And we had a lot of that only week before their wedding!). On the day though, we had the most wonderful weather, and a wedding party that proved great fun to photograph.

It was still very cold by mid afternoon. Look at the bouquet!

Testing out our photography studio sound proofing!

Rob plays in a band and also teaches people how to play the drums. He needed some publicity shots, so booked in a session at our photography studio.

When he brought them in, we thought we might get a few complaints from our neighbours in this sleepy part of Hampshire. However, to my surprise, our portrait studio is pretty well soundproofed!

What followed was 30 minutes of every kind of drum rhythm known to man…

Great fun!

A retro portrait photography shoot!

As well as studio photography photography, we also shoot people in their home surroundings. When we turned up for this portrait photography shoot, we had a pleasant surprise! The funky retro interior provided a great backdrop! Also being in the comfort of their home surroundings made for a relaxed and informal shoot.

Anything the boys can do....

What a wonderful day for a wedding!

It was one of those days when you were glad the weather men had got it wrong. We were recommended to Liz and Derek off the back of  the wedding photography for Kirsty and Tobie in the summer. When I met up with Liz on a cold and damp winters day, we talked a lot about using the charm and the character of the interior as the backdrop for their wedding photos. When the wedding day came there wasn’t a drop of rain. It was a cold and crisp November, which meant outdoor wedding photography as well as indoors!

Just after the wedding ceremony.

Liz loved the feeling of being treated like a star for the day.

I’m a wedding photographer because I love a good wedding and the fun and romance of the big day. It was such fun, and a privilege, to be surrounded by a wonderful bunch of people who enjoyed their day.

Loren and Tom – The Clock Barn – Hampshire Wedding Photography

This day was a wedding photographer’s dream!

Wonderful weather, lovely church and reception venues and a bride and groom who thoroughly enjoyed the fun and romance of their wedding day.

We also love the challenge when a bride or groom gives us a challenge. Loren and Tom are love old Jaguar cars. Some friends of theirs provided a few for their wedding day. “Could you get some nice shots of the cars?” came the request. This is what we did….

This is the third time we have photographed The Clock Barn in Whitchurch this year. It’s a great venue for wedding photography (A big space and lots of light) and for the event itself. Big enough for those who want to get away from the “noise” to have a chat with friends and family but small enough where you won’t feel lost on the dance floor. And, in the unlikely event of rain, there’s plenty of room for guests to mingle and plenty of opportunity for some romantic bride and groom photos.

As well as being an amazing photographer, Darren is also extremely good with people and clearly loves capturing special moments. The main thing we wanted was a balance of natural shots and structured shots. Some of the best moments are those when people are laughing or smiling naturally, and Darren captured all of these throughout the whole day.
Darren is not at all pushy with people and had a very good nature with the little children who were overly curious about his camera – letting them look at it. Absolutely everyone I have spoken to who was at the wedding praised him, not only due to the outstanding photographs taken (which do capture the whole day), but also because of his friendly nature. It makes such a difference having a photographer who genuinely wants to be there to shoot great photos, and also enjoys the day.
We will certainly be recommending him to all of our friends!

Darren was a pleasure to work with from the moment we first made the enquiry to the date that we visited his studio to see the final images.
The biggest plus initially was that out of the dozen or so enquiries we made he was the first to come back to us and the first to visit us to show examples of his work. That said, he was not at all pushy.
At the planning stage he was very flexible in meeting our exact requirements and spent as much time with us and at the venue as was needed.
On the day itself he arrived while we were having breakfast, didn’t leave until mid way through the evening and was ’snapping’ away all the time.
The end result………………..fantastic.

We found Darren on the Internet. If you’ve searched already, you’ll know that there are many! Fortunately for us we found Darren’s and did not look back (he was the only photographer we spoke to – we were that confident!)
Throughout the entire build up – Darren went way above and beyond the call of duty. He was able to help guide us through some suggestions (we hadn’t got a clue what we were after) he even came to the venue to do some test shots with us.
On the day he was fantastic. We’d asked for lots of ‘natural’ pictures – people in ‘the moment’ having a good old giggle. I look back through the pictures now and I am so pleased. I had so many pictures to choose from that I wanted them all.
I’m so pleased we have the DVD with all of the pictures on. Since we’d decided to have mostly natural ‘tell the story’ pictures the DVD flows so well. I cried when I watched it back and so did my family members!
Along with my photo album the DVD album is something I will treasure forever
Darren captured our special day for us, he was absolutely fantastic and I would not hesitate to use him again (and we will be!) and would HIGHLY recommend him.
Darren thank you so much for our wonderful pictures – you did an amazing job.

What impressed us the most about Darren was that he really listened to what we wanted and also put in the time and effort to get to know us, meaning it was like having another friend at the wedding, rather than a stranger.

Before the ‘big day’, we had met with Darren a few times, at his studio and also both at the our reception venue and the church where we would be getting married. This meant we had plenty of opportunity to discuss our ideas about the types of photos we wanted and Darren was also able to give us plenty of suggestions. On the wedding day, everyone commented how nice and accommodating Darren was. He stayed throughout the day … even to the point that we told him he should go, as he really had done more than we could ever have hoped! The proof of his professionalism, his creativity and his rapport with us and our guests all show through in the beautiful photos he took.

“When we were preparing for our Civil Ceremony, we had to get everything so right. Most important was the photographer who would capture the day to help us to catch the images that we may not have seen. We could not be let down. We were doing this, “just the once”.

Terry did extensive research and looking back was very lucky to have found Real People Photography on the internet.

We met Darren in his studio to go through ideas, we were the novice – he was the expert. He showed us examples of his work and we were bowled over by his professionalism and (sorry Darren) cheeky grin, his wife made an excellent cup of tea too. We felt like we were his only clients and he gave us his undivided attention. He had already visited the venue and had new ideas that we had not thought of.

The day itself he was a star. At times we had forgot that he was there, that is how good a photographer should be we believe. When we went back to his studio to see the slideshow and images for the first time, we do not mind admitting that tears of joy were seen in both our eyes. It was like reliving the whole day again. Terry’s Mum was unable to attend, but watching the slideshow – she feels as if she was there.

When recommending Darren to our friends, we had no hesitation and were so pleased that four months later he was engaged to photograph our closest friends ceremony and the results lived up to what was expected.

What you will get from Darren is nothing but the best, believe us. We so hope to see him soon at a future event.”
